AniBea Poetry: I Am Not a Joke

"I Am Not a Joke,"  A Poem, by Anshin B Kelly (AniBea)

~ You come and visit me,

~ When you need a shot of spiritualness,

~ Or maybe you're one of those people

~ Who have so much to hide,

~ And you need to keep a close watch

~ On me, to be sure your story

~ Is narrated afresh.

~ It took me my whole life to realize,

~ That you come to feel better about yourself,

~ You come to touch something real for once,

~ But it's not to nurture it in yourself,

~ It's to take what you yourself

~ Have squandered in your life,

~ And you hope that by being near me,

~ Yet going back to your fantasy,

~ What you have stolen will bring you

~ The relief you search for.

~~ Well, I am not a joke.

~ And I determine from this moment

~ On, that I will not allow such robbery,

~ Such deceit, such nonsense to

~ Enter my life,

~ To treat me like some kind of idiot,

~ Like some kind of storage unit

~ You rent, because you hoard

~ Everything;

~ Your secrets, your stuff, your narrations

~ In your mind, that keep the

~ Fantasy Mill alive.

~~ I, am not a joke.

~ I am more real in my

~ Spiritual Prophesy than

~ You are, in your house

~ Made of wood, stone and metal.

~ And that is why you come,

~ A thief in the night,

~ Right to my face,

~ You syphon, because

~ The gas in your car has

~ Absolutely no power to drive

~ You away

~ From yourself.

~~ You're the joke.

~ Your money shrivels in

~ The first rays of sunlight at

~ Dawn,

~ The next time you come

~ 'Round to visit, dressed like a

~ Child in a Halloween costume,

~ Instead of the grown person you are,

~ My door will be locked.

~ The locked door signals

~ Your time,

~ Your time to become real.

~ Your time to stand up to

~ The most vicious lies; the

~ Lies that live inside yourself.

~~ You are not a joke, and

~ The locked door is a Sacred Barrier,

~ Willing you to grow up; to stop the

~ Charade, to get off your fanny and

~ Live,

~ In total Truth, in total Wholeness.
