Meet Reverend, Midwife Anshin B. Kelly
The Upsidedown Little Woman, in a Right Side Up World of Giants.
Rev. Midwife Anshin B. Kelly Bio:
From the cradle, Anshin B. Kelly has been steeped in a world of music—classical, traditional, theatrical, and choral melodies shaping her earliest memories, with the soulful strains of country music joining the symphony later in life. Her journey in the performing arts began as a child, taking the stage by age 9 or earlier, and blossoming further at 14 when she stepped into ballet, later mastering Salsa and other Latin dances in her teens. She carried this passion into her twenties, teaching dance, while a decade of vocal and theatrical training fueled her artistic fire. After high school, she ventured to Nashville, Tennessee, to write and sing, recording a professional demo that showcased her honed talents. Yet, a deeper calling from The Spirit drew her back to her home State of Massachusetts, where she met her husband of many years and shifted her focus from performance to family and healing.
Anshin’s roots in the natural world run just as deep. Raised on a farm, she spent her childhood exploring the wilderness—roaming the backwoods of the Northeast USA, traversing mountain ranges, canoeing rivers, and spelunking in caves. Youth groups introduced her to wilderness survival and emergency fundamentals, laying the groundwork for skills she later certified in, including CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding, and, in 2023, Wilderness First Aid through the Emergency Care and Safety Institute. This connection to nature and resilience also shaped her path as a Traditional Midwife and Wilderness Medicine Practitioner.
Anshin’s midwifery journey began in 2011-12 with the pregnancy and birth of her first child, sparking an eight-year mentorship under senior midwives and her own self-guided experience. She gave birth to five children naturally—four at home, unassisted—all thriving from womb to present day. For fifteen years, she has served women, babies, and families with limited access to medical care, offering her expertise across North America and beyond. Families have traveled hundreds of miles to receive her care, and she has journeyed just as far to support them. A homemaker to her eventual family of seven since 2011, Anshin balances her healing work with a commitment to raising her children.
In 2024, Anshin founded MoShin Productions, reigniting her creative spark by writing and producing demos. Now, in 2025, she envisions a vibrant future directing and producing performance art, weaving it seamlessly with her healing mission. A lifelong student, Anshin’s pursuits extend far beyond midwifery and the stage. Since childhood, she has studied botany, farming, and natural sciences, while her passion for Steiner Education (Waldorf School) drives her dedication to nurturing youth. She is a prolific explorer of law, human rights, Western legal systems, world religions, prayer, and spiritual practice. Her artistic soul thrives as a dancer, singer-songwriter, actress, painter, poet, and writer—though she admits a distaste for social media, despite her success with it.
Anshin B. Kelly never stops learning, blending her gifts as a healer, artist, and educator into a life of profound impact. Whether assisting a birth, crafting a song, or teaching a child, she remains a steadfast force of creativity, care, and wisdom.
