“People of color, of any race, like anyone need to stand up and take responsibility, and like most groups, have spiritually powerful people who start deeply effective and healing initiatives in their communities. But, something most people of European descent in the USA have a very difficult time grasping is the hundreds of years -old reality that an infrastructure is built, and maintained for them; not passively so, but by any means necessary. If this were just simply a passive reality, then hundreds of thousands would not have had to die so that a black person in this country could be free, and then another hundred years of oppression before a black person could drink at the same water fountain as a white person, or sit anywhere on the bus they pleased. Another sixty years later, fresh produce is still a desperately hard- to- come- by right for most inner-city and/or primarily black areas, but 1000 black children are being killed in the womb a day in the same country that this is a reality.”
